The Museu Fàbrica Reig

A long tradition

The Museu Fàbrica Reig belongs to the Fundació Julià Reig and is located in the family’s old tobacco factory: Cal Rafeló, an emblematic building from the early 20th century located in the center of the village.

Tobacco production has been, and is, a fundamental economic activity for Andorra. To explain this whole process, the Julià Reig Foundation inaugurated the Museu Fàbrica Reig in 2003. It aims to explain the historical importance of this activity, and it does so with a great weight of new technologies, with audio-visual projections and multimedia explanatory systems. Although now, the great economic engine of Andorra is tourism, until recently tobacco production had a predominant weight in the country. Even today you can see many tobacco plantations.

Along with the permanent exhibition, the Museum has two spaces reserved for the organization of activities and temporary exhibitions that become a driving force for the Museum revitalization. The aim is to bring art and culture closer to the city and the country.
